Mathematics is a huge field and I only really dabble in it, but I do have a number of areas of interest that I struggle to understand. Here are pointers to various essays and articles that I found enlightening, puzzling, or confusing-but-worth-a-second-look. Determining which is which is left as an exercise to the reader.
- Mathematical Phantoms — Mathematical phantoms are math entities which did not exist at some point, but were created to help fill glaring gaps in current theories. Obvious examples are negative numbers, complex numbers and quaternions, amongst more exotic objects.
